FAQ & troubleshooting

Setup
I don't see any traffic in HTTP History.
Check the status bar says the proxy is running, then that your browser uses 127.0.0.1:8888 for both HTTP and HTTPS. Browsers often skip the proxy for localhost — test against a real hostname, or remove localhost from the browser's “no proxy” list.
HTTPS sites show a certificate warning.
The browser doesn't trust Hunt's certificate yet. Follow Trust Hunt's certificate, then restart the browser. Firefox keeps its own certificate list, so import it there too.
Can I change the proxy port?
Yes — Proxy → Settings. Update your browser's proxy setting to match.
Licenses
Where do I get a trial key?
Sign in with Google and open your account. The key stays there, so you can copy it again any time. It lasts 14 days.
“This computer has already used a free trial.”
Each computer gets one trial, whatever Google account the key came from. Buy Pro to keep going.
“This key is already in use on all its devices.”
Your key is active on its maximum number of computers. If you replaced one, click Move License to This Device in the License dialog — it signs out your oldest computer.
Does Hunt work without internet?
Yes, for up to 30 days after the last successful license check.
“The license server's answer couldn't be verified.”
Something between Hunt and our server changed the answer — usually Hunt itself routed through a proxy that rewrites responses. Let Hunt reach the license server directly and try again.
Teams
We forgot the team passphrase.
Nobody can recover it — not even us. Email support@example.com to reset it; that deletes your team's shared data from the server. Everyone's local projects stay.
A teammate's new findings don't show up.
Sync runs every 2 minutes on each side, so allow up to about 4 minutes — or both click Sync now in the Team tab. The Team tab says when it last synced and shows a warning if it couldn't reach the server.
Does joining a workspace change my scope?
No. A workspace shares data, not scope. Joining with a new project starts from the creator's scope; after that, everyone's scope is their own.
